Director of the U.K. Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland – Dr. Gillian Wright will share insights about James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).
She is the principal investigator for the MIRI instrument of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). When launched in 2021 Webb will be the biggest space observatory ever, and will enable astronomers from around the world to study the Universe in exquisite detail. She will explain why Webb is an infrared mission and discuss the technical challenges, mission status and the key scientific questions it will help us to answer. Along with this, she will illustrate the importance of code to modern astronomy.
